Gurney Plaza is bringing back what it calls Penang's biggest plant market, running for five days from Thursday 5 to Monday 9 November 2026 at the Extension Wing on the Ground Floor. The mall is organising it together with City Gardenin, according to the official poster on Gurney Plaza's website.
Expect indoor, outdoor and rare plants, orchids, pots and garden accessories, plus a 'Plant Clinic' where you can ask experts what is wrong with that sad-looking monstera at home. The poster also promises workshops and activities for all ages, photo spots, and a next-generation vertical green wall display by Planterior Studio.
The mall has not published daily opening times for the market, the workshop schedule or any workshop fees, so we've marked those as to be confirmed. Browsing should be free, as with most mall concourse events, but check on the day if you want to join a workshop.
The dates also cover the Deepavali holiday on Sunday 8 November, which makes it a handy air-conditioned outing for the long weekend. Who it's for: plant parents, beginners setting up their first balcony garden, collectors hunting for variegated or rare species, and families with kids who enjoy hands-on activities. Tips: bring a sturdy bag or box for carrying plants home, take photos of your ailing plants to show at the Plant Clinic, and visit on a weekday for a calmer browse before the weekend crowds.
