Straits Quay, the seafront retail marina at Seri Tanjung Pinang, is running its year-end programme under the name The Luminary Christmas from Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. The backbone is a mall-wide Christmas Thematic Fair, open 10am to 10pm every day, and around it the marina has scheduled a string of short, free-to-watch sessions that make it an easy evening outing during the school holidays.
The most interesting dates for families are the weekends. The Luminary Christmas Market sets up in Straits Court on 12 and 13 December from 4pm to 10pm. Santa makes meet-and-greet appearances around the mall on 12, 19 and 25 December, 6pm to 8pm, and stilt clowns do the rounds on 13 and 26 December over the same two hours. The season wraps up with Countdown 2027 on The Promenade on 31 December, 7.30pm to 12.30am.
There is also a spend-and-redeem: spend at least RM288, on up to two receipts from the same day, and you can redeem a Lumière Christmas Edition plushie at the Information Counter in the Ground Floor Main Lobby. The poster shows two plushie designs, one for 4–19 December and another for 20 December–3 January, while stocks last.
This is a relaxed, low-cost alternative to the big George Town crowds: stroll the marina, catch Santa, then have dinner by the water. Straits Quay notes that event details may change without notice, and the vendor line-up for the market had not been published when we checked, so look at the official page before you go.
