Macam Macam Berapit is a one-night community celebration on the mainland, taking over Berapit Public Market in Bukit Mertajam on Saturday 28 November 2026 from 6pm to 11pm. It is listed on Penang Global Tourism's official events calendar and organised by the Berapit state assemblyman's service centre (Pusat Khidmat KADUN Berapit).
The idea is to bring arts, heritage and culture right into the neighbourhood rather than asking residents to cross the bridge for it. According to the listing, the evening will mix stage performances, interactive art experiences, creative workshops, food stalls and family activities, all built around Berapit's own local character and community spirit. The name says it all: a bit of everything, in a place most of us only visit for groceries.
It fits a wider push to spread cultural programming beyond George Town into Seberang Perai towns, which has been one of the gaps in Penang's events calendar. The organisers have not yet published a performance line-up, workshop schedule or whether any activities carry a fee, so check with the organiser before you go if you have a specific session in mind.
Who it's for: Bukit Mertajam and Berapit residents, families with kids, and mainlanders looking for something to do on a Saturday night closer to home. Tips: it is an evening event in an open market setting, so bring a small fan or umbrella, come hungry for the food stalls, and plan for parking around the market area to be busy. The organiser's contact number on the tourism listing is +6016-492 2447.
